High School Chemistry Preparedness Survey
Fall 2004
All high school teachers are encouraged to participate in this survey
which was developed collaboratively through the
CSUN High School Chemistry Teacher Support Group.

This initial survey was designed as a 50-question (Scantron form) anonymous assessment of student background in science and math, read, writing and language skills, parental support and student expectations.

It is hoped from this initial assessment that data can be tallied to determine what type of preparation incoming students to chemistry have both in personal and school support.  Upon first survey teachers themselves may find this information valuable for planning throughout the year.  It is hoped that teachers will then forward their survey forms for inclusion in a full study for sharing at the national level that will include a description illustrating the differences among school/state prerequisites for first year high school chemistry.
