Chemistry Topic:    Film:     Clip or Scene Description:
Acids and Bases: "Dante's Peak" (1996) Field study and pH measurement of the mountain lake prior to eruption of the volcano.
Density:

"Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981)

“Indy” replaces the gold statue with the bag of sand to generate interest in density.  Work out the problem and decide, based on results, how badly that scene was off.
"Sea Quest"

(1993) television episode from Season One.

An old "Sea Quest" episode called "Bad Water" that is an excellent object lesson on buoyancy/density of fresh vs. salt water and design...and there's other pretty good science scattered throughout the episode.  Analyze the "captain's solution" at the end of the episode in terms of physics, again to see about how misconceptions abound.
Combustion Reactions and Stoichiometry/Limiting Reactants: "Backdraft”  (1991) in one dramatic scene the explosion was so large it blew the fire out.
Gas Laws:  “The Abyss” (1989) the implosion scene and breathable liquid scenes
Nuclear Chemistry and Radiation: “The Day After" (1983) study of nuclear chemistry and radiation effects
"Homer Simpson" Episode 7F01 "Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish"
Reaction Rate:  “The Rock” (1996) explosion scene
Surface Tension:  “The Abyss” (1989) the “Russian Water Tentacle”  scene in
Chemistry Spoof "Kentucky Fried Movie"
(1977)
"Zinc Oxide" segment
